How to Care Your Glasses in Winter?

image It’s annoying for me to wear glasses in winter because it often becomes blur with mist. There is a great temperature difference between the inside and the outdoor, especially in Northern the weather is too cold outside but they heat the indoor with radiator. I think it’s very inconvenient to wear glasses due to the cold weather because I was really bothered by it when I lived in there.
Many people who wear glasses may encounter such annoying state when they drink hot water, hot soup or eat hotpot. Moreover, windows of the car, lens of camera and even mirrors in the bathroom are the victims of it. Sometimes it’s dangerous for our life. For example, the biker wears a pair of glasses with blur, which could lead an accident. The reason of bluring is that water of the hot soup changes into vapor, then encounters with the cold lenses and becomes small droplets to blur our glasses.

However, scientists from the U.S. Massachusetts Institute of Technology have recently found a solution, they have developed a silicon polymer nanop articles that can be coated on glass or plastic surfaces and form a permanent anti-fog coating. The two materials used in the coating are relatively cheap. Therefore, it will be directly applied to all kinds of glass or plastic products and daily necessities after the technology is commercialized in the next few years. It is hoped that this technology can firstly be used in car because driving is relying on visual activity and "hazy" windshield can lead people into dangerous situations on the road.

Anti-fog technology once has been used in fog spray but need to be constantly replenished in order to maintain the effectiveness, while the Massachusetts Institute of Technology research results are permanent. "Our fog coating may provide a permanent solution for the fog problem." Professor Michael Rubner, one of the leading researcher said "They can remain stable for a long time, needn’t to rely on light to activate, but also can be used for any surface.”

Maybe the above method is far away from our life. Here, I’d like to give you some common ways to solve this problem. The simplest way is to coat evenly on the glasses with soap, then dry them with lens cleaning cloth, which can anti-fog in a short-term with the general effect. There is anti-fog water on the market, you can paint it on the lenses as long as the fog adhere to the lens. Of course, you can also self-made anti-fog water. First, mix 30 ml glycerin with 10 ml of liquid soap and then add a few drops of turpentine and stir evenly at last. Coat the anti-fog water on the lenses, and then wipe with lens cleaning cloth. It can be kept for 3-4 hours.
