Care for Your Eyes

71 In my nephew’s class, there are 23 students. They are about 12 years old. But over one third of these children wear glasses. That is so amazing. Nowadays, more and more students are myopic. They spend much more time on using computers and reading than before, but know much less about how to protect their eyes than before. So as an expert, I should tell them what to do to change this situation. And these methods mentioned below also apply to adults.

First of all, make good habits. Some people like to lie on the bed, reading books. And maybe it is a custom for people to read on the bus. For example, in Britain it may make a person look gentler. But this kind of habit is really harmful to their eyes. So that it should be changed as soon as possible. It is wrong to think that they are already myopic, so they needn’t to pay attention to their eyes any more. Actually, if they don’t mind their eyes, their eye problems will become more serious.

Second, have a break after using eyes for a long time. It’s better to have a rest for about 10 minutes after reading or using computers for 40 minutes. They can look far into the distance for awhile, if there are green trees, it will be better. When they use their eyes again, they should notice their posture. Keep a distance from the book or computer; don’t get too close to them. As computers and televisions are really harmful for eyes and it makes eyes tired easily, don’t use or watch it for a too long time. 1 or 2 hours is enough. Don’t more than it.

The last but not the least, do eye exercises. Some people will think it is a little bit strange, because it seems that eye exercises are for children. As they have already grown up, they don’t want to do them any more. But I’ll tell them that doing eye exercises is really helpful. If they do them 2 or 3 times during a-whole-day work, they will find the benefits.

So care for your eyes, they are the windows of your heart.
