New definition for “stew in one’s own juice”

40 It is a truth universally acknowledged that a little child in want of a pair of glasses must be in want of short eyesight. However little known the feelings or views of disadvantages such a child may have on his or her wearing glasses for the rest of life.

When I was young, I did always fancy wearing glasses like actors and actresses on TV, while my eyesight at that time was 1.5. So I began to read in bed, to watch TV right before the TV set and to do whatever my teacher told me not to do to prevent eyesight from falling. My parents found my little foolish attempt, and tried to stop me, but they failed.

After long-term of struggling, I cannot see the blackboard clearly and I knew it was good news for me although it looked more like a tragedy for my parents.

However, the real tragedy is that I didn’t know what they were wearing were not the short-eyesight glasses but the sun-prevent glasses until I finally got one—a pair of glasses for myopia from a website www.glassesshop.com.

Believe me, as soon as I found out the truth, I never stop regretting, especially when I recognized that I’ve got no chance to put on sunglasses, if I still want to recognize my mum at the other side of the road.

My parents say that is stewing in my own juice. So, year by year, I am busy holding my glasses up to the right place and I hate entering warm rooms from cold outdoors, and what really bothers me a lot is that the man I like expects a girlfriend with a good eyesight.

It turned out to be a real disaster for me.

And I finally decided to change my ugly glasses into contact lenses but they were inconvenient, uncomfortable and do no good to my poor eyes.

I didn’t realize that the most important thing in my life until my friends, including him, told me that they liked the former me better. Actually, so do I. Wearing the contact lenses, I was even worried that winged insects would run into my eyes.

When I look into the mirror, I do like the girl with red-black-framed glasses. Why shall I need to change for anyone else? Why do I regret nearly 20 years for my little change since a child?

My parents are right. I should stew in my own juice, which also remind me of the principal of www.glassesshop.com– to be beautiful and healthy.

I give you the new definition of “stew in one’s own juice”: to accept what you are bound to be—sometimes what you add to yourself incidentally, no regrets, no complaints, and show your best with that.
