LOS ANGELES — The Los Angeles Police Department released surveillance photos of two suspected thieves dubbed the "eyeglass burglars" in hopes that the public will identify them and help locate them.

Police say the suspects have hit over a dozen eyeglasses businesses throughout the San Fernando Valley since April of this year.

The most recent burglary happened on Nov. 25 at New York Style Optometry in the 17600 block of Sherman Way in Van Nuys.

Surveillance images show the two men, wearing black bandanas over their faces, smashing a glass front door with a crowbar to gain access. Investigators say the suspects took some $75,000 worth of prescription eyeglasses, frames and sunglasses from display cases before leaving the scene.

Anyone with additional information was urged to call the burglary special detectives at (213) 486-6940.
